Who we are
Tapa Studios (tapastudios.com) makes playful learning apps for children, including TapaType (tapatype.com) and the TapaBoli language-learning apps. This policy covers every app and website we publish, unless an app states otherwise on its own store listing.
Information we collect
None. Our apps have no sign-up, no server-side accounts, no forms that transmit data, and no third-party services embedded in them.
Information stored on your device only
To make games work, our apps save a small amount of data in your browser's or device's local storage — on your device only:
- Player profiles you create (a first name or nickname, a chosen avatar, stars, stickers, streaks)
- Optional words a grown-up adds (like family names for typing practice)
- Game settings (voice choice, letter case, and similar preferences)
- Practice statistics (like which keys were mistyped, to power practice games)
This data never leaves the device. We cannot see it. Clearing your browser's site data (or uninstalling the app) deletes it permanently.
Cookies, analytics and advertising
- No cookies
- No analytics or telemetry
- No advertising in any child-directed app, ever
- No third-party scripts, fonts, or trackers — everything is self-hosted
Offline use
Our apps use a service worker to cache game files on your device so they work offline. The cache contains only the app itself (code, images, audio) — never personal data.
Children's privacy
Our apps are designed for children, so we build to the strictest reading of children's privacy laws (including COPPA and GDPR-K): the simplest way to protect children's data is to never collect any. That is our house rule.

If anything about how our apps work changes, this page will be updated first and the date above will change.
